Recaro seats

USA GPs don’t come with the Recaro seats that are standard in other countries - and it’s very disappointing! Compare these two pages from the UK and USA GP booklets:

So, what to do?
There’s been some investigation of getting Recaro seats shipped over from England but apart from the cost of the seat itself, shipping is prohibitive! So, here’s a possible new strategy: I’ve learned that the seat frame is identical, so just buy the padding & covers and convert your USA GP seat to a Recaro! Check out these details:

I haven’t gone through all this data yet but I like the “CAN BE RETROFITTED” phrase at the top ;)

    Ian: I am assuming that the USA issue is the Airbag + sensor…. is that right?

    That’s right, Murray.

    South African GP’s were lucky enough to have the Recaro’s fitted - they are gorgeous.

    It would be interesting to find out if a retrofit is really possible, since lots of MINI owners would want to have Recaro’s in their cars.

    Maybe this whole thing is a conspiracy, they release two seats so that one group would say ” hey I like those better” and then, guess what they go and buy them after. Just like the xenon lights. If we don’t offer them, then in a couple month we will come out with a conversion kit. HMMM.

    I have a lot of these conspiracies mainly about Microsoft though.
