Main Route Synopsis: Day 13 brings you from Charlottesville into Richmond for a stop at King’s Dominion where you can ride on the new Italian Job Turbo Coaster. If roller coasters are just not your thing, try maneuvering the entire length of Skyline Drive heading North just outside of Charlottesville towards Washington DC. For those roller coaster fanatics, King’s Dominion offers some of the best coaster riding in North America….just remember to eat lunch afterward. From Richmond into Washington DC the highway becomes much more urban. Consider taking a side route and you might find something you didn’t even know existed, a beautiful Northern Virginia countryside. And if you’re all about museums, DC has you covered. You’ll have plenty of time to explore the neighborhoods and experience our nation’s capitol.
Off The Beaten Path: If skipping King’s Dominion, consider driving the entire route of Skyline Drive north towards I-66 E to Washington DC
